ARE ADVANCED RESERVATIONS REQUIRED?
Advance reservations are required to insure property availability.
WHAT IS THE REQUIRED DEPOSIT?
We require a full deposit for stays of 1 week. If you are staying multiple weeks we require 50% deposit with the balance due 8 weeks before arrival. On line booking is not set up for this so you should call us at 207 596 0041 for a reservation of multiple weeks
WHAT IS THE PREFERRED METHOD OF PAYMENT?
Our preferred method of payment is by credit card. We accept MC or VISA.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
WE UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYONE HAS A REASON TO CANCEL BE IT HEALTH, INJURY, TRAVEL ISSUES, ETC AND WE DO UNDERSTAND BUT WE WILL ONLY GIVE REFUNDS ACCORDING TO THIS POLICY.There is an 8% service charge for any refunds. A refund will occur if the cancellation is 6 weeks before arrival(8 weeks in cottages)minus the 8% service charge. If cancellation is inside 6 weeks of arrival(8 weeks for cottages) a refund will occur if the space is refilled minus the 8% service charge.
DO YOU HAVE A GROUP BOOKING POLICY
OUR GROUP BOOKING POLICY IS FOR STAYS OF 3 WEEKS OR MORE OR 3 ROOMS OR MORE AND IS AS FOLLOWS.
8% SERVICE CHARGE FOR ALL REFUNDS. 100% PAYMENT UP FRONT. IF CANCELLATION IS OUTSIDE 8 WEEKS OF ARRIVAL WE WILL REFUND 50% OF YOUR MONEY WITH THE OTHER 50% REFUNDED IF WE REFILL THE SPACE.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE COTTAGES
All cottages require that you bring your own sheets and towels. You can also not expect to find paper products and condiments but sometimes this is left behing by the last guest.
HOW DO WE GET OUR LUGGAGE AND SUPPLIES TO THE COTTAGE?
Shining Sails Trucking meets all the ferries and will truck your bags to your cottage for $3/bag one way. Please be prepared to pay for this service on the dock with the truck driver by cash or check.
What cottages are available for 2021 rental?
The cottages are all privately owned homes and we need the paperwork back from the owners before we start taking new reservations. There are repeat guests who have booked for 2021 before they left the island and we need to get them booked in first. As we receive the paperwork back we will make cottages available to book on the cottage rental page hopefully all by January 1.

CAN COTTAGES BE RENTED FOR LESS THAN A WEEK?
Sometimes it does happen but not often and mostly last minute. The cottages are weekly rentals, Saturday-Saturday. Our on line booking will allow you to book a week other than a Saturday-Saturday. We will cancel that reservation if you do that and unfortunately your CC will have been charged and will need to be refunded.
So please be careful not to do that. Saturday-Saturday, 7 nights. Thanks!!
HOW ARE THE COTTAGES CLEANED AT THE END OF MY STAY?
We require that all guests be responsible for cleaning their cottage before departure. We expect the cottages to be as clean or cleaner as they were found. A cleaning policy will be emailed to you after your booking. We inspect each cottage before the arrival of new guests. You may ask to hire a cleaner 2 weeks before your arrival. It can't be guaranteed that we will find someone to clean but we will do our best. We can only handle 3-4 cottages on Saturdays
